Get to Know Us and Our Methodology

A B O U T US

Founded in 1998 by Speech-Language Pathologist, Barbara A. Samfield, MA-CCC/SLP, the Speech & Language Center at Stone Oak (SLCSO) was the first private speech center established in the Stone Oak medical community. In 2014, the SLCSO moved to its current medical office space at 225 E. Sonterra Boulevard, Suite 120. Expansion continued in 2015 with the addition of a second office suite within the same building. In 2020, this annex office moved to larger clinic space in Suite 110, also within the same building. Together, the two offices operate as a single clinic facility.

The Speech & Language Center at Stone Oak is a practice of speech-language pathologists located within the Stone Oak community. The Speech & Language Center offers evaluation and treatment services for children and adults with communication problems. In addition to speech services, the Speech & Language Center offers treatment for pediatric patients with feeding problems.

OUR A P P R O A C H

Our Master’s level and ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) have extensive training for the most effective practices and treatment, including an oral motor approach. We provide an innovative and individualized approach to each client’s needs in alignment with our commitment to creating a positive, enriching, and effective experience. Our team of SLPs actively includes families and caregivers in developing strategies to have the ability to effectively use the methods at home. Our pediatric sessions are engaging to the child in both in-clinic and virtual formats, in an effort to expand clients’ abilities that can be generalized to all settings, from home, to school, to the grocery store.
